Chesley Community Projects

Once students had gained some of the necessary skills to conduct spatial analysis, they were sent out into the local community to collect data.  First, students had to focus on a local problem or complete some sort of spatial analysis.  Next, students wrote proposals which had to be approved before setting out to collect data.  Students used a variety of methods to collect data, but most collected waypoints on a GPS.  Students were responsible for creating their own maps and presenting their group findings to the class.  Some interesting field work was conducted!  This project has been completed in many geography classes such as CGF3M (physical) and CGU4U/U (urban).
