Geography Club - Chicago, IL

The geography and music departments headed off on another joint adventure to Chicago from May 1st-4th.  Students spent months leading up to the trip with several fundraising opportunities.  Day one of the trip included a smooth bus ride into the city and dinner at the House of Blues.  Students then visited the Willis Tower SkyDeck before checking into the hotel.  On day two, students began with an interesting tour of iconic architect Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio.  The group then headed to historic Wrigley Field for a cool and damp baseball game.  It was a bonus that we arrived on a free bobblehead day but also that the Cubs won.  After the game, students headed to Navy Pier for dinner and it was off to the theater.  Motown the Musical was enjoyed by all.  Day three took us on a tour of Grant Park and Millenium Park.  We then visited the Art Institute of Chicago for a whirlwind tour of the museum.  Students had some free time for checking out the sights on Michigan Avenue and then we boarded a boat for an architectural cruise along the Chicago River and into Lake Michigan.  We ate another group dinner at Andy’s Jazz Club and enjoyed some live music.  We then met “Shoulders” – our guide who drove us around the streets of Chicago and explained life during the prohibition era.  Ask a student and each will have a different highlight of the trip.
